Who are we?

Sunflowers was set up 10 years ago.

We are part of a national charity founded in 1991. Since then over 140 "Links" have been established throughout the United Kingdom, raising money to support the children of Belarus, whose lives will be forever affected by the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Host a child

Could you host a child in your home for either two or four weeks during the summer? We are always looking for new host families, please contact us if you're interested

Become a support family

We're also looking for support families. If you can't commit to hosting a child, could you be available to support a family who might need the occasional break? Please contact us.

Help us to raise funds

Raising enough funds to bring the children to Plymouth is an ongoing task. Could you please help? Could you organise a fund raising event at work, with friends, or maybe you could join one of our events?

Our work is focused on the following core activities:

Raising the funds to bring children to Plymouth each year for four weeks of fresh air, uncontaminated food, fun, love and attention as well as dental and eye check ups. Nationally around 3,000 children will be brought over by the charity’s links.

Imagine: Living the rest of your life in a radioactive polluted environment. There is no escape. Money cannot buy protection. The World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) state that 500,000 children in Belarus are at risk.

Imagine: Eating contaminated food that may harm you, but what else can you do?

Imagine: Coming to the UK and eating fresh food and breathing fresh air and going home with your immune system recharged.

Imagine: Knowing that people DO care.
